MENOSTAR® (estradiol transdermal system) provides low estradiol blood levels in the physiological range for postmenopausal women to prevent bone loss1,2
The efficacy of MENOSTAR in the prevention of postmenopausal osteoporosis was investigated in the ULTRA study, a 2-year, double blind, placebo-controlled, multicenter study in the United States.3
A total of 417 postmenopausal women, aged 60 to 80 years, with an intact uterus were enrolled in the study. All patients received supplemental calcium and vitamin D.1
In the ULTRA study MENOSTAR
- Significantly decreased markers of bone turnover1
- Significantly increased BMD of the lumbar spine and hip over baseline and placebo1

MENOSTAR (estradiol transdermal system) therapy resulted in consistent, statistically significant suppression of bone turnover, as reflected by changes in serum and urine markers of bone formation and bone resorption.
